You are invited to join the Mission Committee in collecting pink or blue plastic caps from Prairie Farms milk (gallons and half-gallons).  Leave the white stickers on.  These will be given to Habitat for Humanity, which receves cash donations for the caps.  A container is on the table in the narthex for your bottle caps.  Thanks for your hlep.

In August, please join the mission committee in supporting the Back Pack Program which has been designed to help hungry school children here in  Mattoon.  Several churches including Broadway Christian, 1st Methodist, 1st Baptist, 1st Christian and East Size Nazarene are already involved in this ministry.
Because of Mattoon's low economic level, during the school year, many students qualify for free and reduced lunches, but teachers have reported that these kids often do not get fed on the weekends.  Through an application process, elementary and middle schools have identified these children and members of the various churches "stuff" food into backpacks which are delivered to schools on 2 Fridays every month.  First Christian provides children at Riddle school.  They would welcome our contributions of
- pudding cups (any flavor)      - cheese or peanut butter crackers in individual packages - Pop Tarts, iced, pack of 2, any flavor    - Beanie weenies - individual pop-top cans - applesauce cups, any flavor       - individual boxes of breakfast cereal
We will be collecting this food during August. Cash donations will also be accepted and forwarded to First Christian Church.   It is difficult to imagine that Mattoon has so many kids who are going hungry.  Can you help?  Call Elsie Carter, Sue Gathmann, Sibyl Etchason, Susan Millsap, Jerry Parker, Vicky Williams or Jo Swick if you have questions.  There is a basket on the table in the narthex to hold our donations.

First Presbyterian Church will be hosting  a Blood Drive on  Tuesday, August 20th 2:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m.
