SACRED MISSION STITCHERS

Anyone is welcome to to join the group and if you don't already know how to knit or crochet but wish to learn, one of us will teach you.

Prayer shawls are always available for you to give to persons who need to know that God loves him/her.  We can deliver or send a shawl to your loved one if you'd prefer.  Just call the church office.

Here are pics to show the stitchers as they sort out 25 scarves which were sent to the World War II veterans to be given out on Veterans' Day or Christmas Day.

53 scarves which will be sent to the Orphan Foundation of America and which then will be distributed as part of the Red Scarf Project. Each handmade scarf will be sent in a Valentine's Day care package to a college or trade school student who was a foster child or resident of an orphanage. Each year more than 10,000 home-made scarves are received by the Foundation. This is the 5th year that our group of stitchers has participated in this project.

The Sacred  Mission Stitchers is a group of women who began their mission project in December 2006 and since that time have created and given out more than 300 shawls.  In addition, scarves have been made and donated to the Red Scarf for Orphans project and the World War II Veterans’ Museum.  Articles have also been given to Even Start and Kemmerer Village students.

Meetings are held on the first Sunday of each month at 2:00 in the parlor and are open to anyone whether you knit or crochet or would like to learn either craft.  Patterns, hooks, needles and yarn are available.

Prayer shawls are available to be given in times of joy, sorrow, or just as a means of comfort.  Call or stop in the church office if you know of anyone to whom you’d like to send a hug or a message of

“I care about you!”

There is no charge for the shawls.

If requested, shawls will be mailed out to recipients.
