KIDS' CLUB

Children from kindergarten through fifth grade meet every Wednesday from 5:30-7:30 for KIDS’ CLUB. They enjoy games in the gym, a warm supper, stories, crafts and songs.  Community mission projects each month provide an opportunity to practice what is taught as the goodness God provides is shared.  Friendships are cultivated and encouraged as children share concerns and prayers for one another.

If Kids' Club is ever cancelled due to weather, it will be posted on www.illinoishomepage.net

 KIDS' CLUB ACTIVITIES

As the seasons change and bring various holidays, KIDS’ CLUB celebrates them from a Christian point of view.  Our Trunk-or-Treat family night is a safe alternative to Trick-or-Treating and the lessons focus on how we can light up our lives with Jesus.

The annual Thanksgiving Family Pot Luck supper is always a hit for children and adults alike.  Cooperation of all members is required for the crafts and table games.  Children usually enjoy their weekly singing time while parents are updated with goals and plans of KIDS’ CLUB or socialize with other parents.

In December, KIDS’ CLUB children present both a Christmas program for the Sunday morning service as well as a less formal Christmas pageant for the parents at a family night supper on Wednesday night.  Children practice Christmas carols which are sung at a nursing home later in the month.

Between snow days, we have dealt with cabin fever in January by having a Beach Party.  Games, crafts, food and fun centered around items and activities associated with the beach.   Children were also bringing in pajamas and books for the Pajama Project.  These items were donated to a shelter for displaced children in order that no child should have to go to sleep without warm pajamas or a story read to them.

In February, the Middle School  Youth Group join the KIDS’ CLUB to decorate valentine cards containing a crossword puzzle with the topic of LOVE as found in the Bible.  These valentines are sent to nursing home residents.

March brings the middle school youth back again and we learn about the fun activities at Camp Carew.   A visit from the camp’s director, a camp related lesson,  campfire songs and camp food make for a fun evening.

Easter includes an egg hunt - a delight for the children after they craft their own Easter Baskets.  Finding the prizes inside is always fun, too!   Then, the Sunday before Easter, children wave palms for the opening of the Palm Sunday Service and sometimes there is a real live donkey to pet, such as Jesus rode into Jerusalem.

May closes out the school year for KIDS’ CLUB which means another family pot luck supper that will be enjoyed by all.  Children are invited to come to weekly Children’s Church on Sundays as well as to sign up for summer outings until KIDS’ CLUB begins again in September.
