Women's Activities

The women of the church have three different circles available that each meet in the church parlor.

The Ruth Circle meets on the first thursday of every month at 9:30 a.m.  If you are interested in this circle, you may contact Carol Ann Parker at 217-234-7526.

The Esther Circle gathers on the second Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m.  For more information about the Esther Circle please contact Bobbie McRoberts at 217-345-6517 or Blanche Mills at 217-234-2257.

The Priscilla Circle meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m.  You may contact Alice Jeisy at 217-644-2625.

Women's Committee Moderator is Connie Buescher.

 

Mystery Book Club

The Mystery Book Club meets on the second Thursday of each month at 6:00 p.m. in the parlor to discuss a new mystery.  the book club is open to new members at any time.  Bring a sandwich and join the fun!

 

Children's Programs / Sunday School

During the summer months - from May 29th to September 18th - there is only one 9:30 a.m. service.  There is no adult Sunday School during the summer - but "Children's Church" will continue through the summer following the Children's Chat at the 9:30 a.m. service.

Children's Church is offered for children age 4-12 during the 9:30 a.m. church service.  Children's Church is a service where kids learn through scripture andmusic tailored to their group.

During the regular school year, Kids' Club meets each Wednesday night from 5:30-7:30 p.m. for children aged 4 yr. through 5th grade.  Supper is offered along with games, music, crafts, and fun.

Also - Middle School Youth Group meets from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Sunday afternoons.

The Senior High/College Youth Group meets on Sunday evenings at the church from 5:00-7:00 p.m.  The Youth Group meets regularly and hosts an annual wiener roast and plans other fun events throughout the year.

Two Adult Sunday School classes meet at 9:30 a.m. when the regular service times are in effect.  The Senior Adult Class meets in the parlor and the Young Adult Class meets in the church library.

 

Music

Kevin Chunko serves First Presbyterian Church as organist. 

 

Dick Barta directs the church's Westminster Choir.  He holds undergraduate degrees in Instrumental and Vocal Music as well as graduate degrees from the University of Kansas in Music Education (Performance Emphasis) and Educational Administration.  He is an Eastern Illinois University Music Department Professor Emeritus.

The Westminister Choir, directed by Dick Barta meets each Sunday morning at 9:30 for practice in the room next to the library, just past the 6,7,8 classroom. Please join us!
